Real-time meteorological and oceanographic (metocean) data play a vital role in offshore operations. As metocean data collection across various offshore industries continues to grow, adopting standards and best practices is key to maximizing its value for a wide range of stakeholders and making data accessible and useful for all. This project is supported by the IOOS Ocean Technology Transition (OTT) program.

MetOcean Data Link Focus

  • Launch a comprehensive engagement campaign with metocean data providers and consumers to gather input that informs system design and usability.
  • Engage data providers and consumers to improve the cyberinfrastructure
  • Expand and enhance existing metocean data cyberinfrastructure
  • Test and improve cyberinfrastructure with multiple use cases
  • Provide documentation and training
  • Transition the cyberinfrastructure to a national operational system
