On February 13th and 14th, 2024, UNH and NERACOOS will be hosting its first of 3 passive acoustic monitoring (PAM) workshops focused on the Gulf of Maine. The goal of this workshop is to create the most effective and cost-efficient network possible through shared understanding of objectives and activities across the acoustics community. Through its outcomes this workshop aims to inform the creation of the first Implementation Plan for a Gulf of Maine Regional Acoustic Network (GOMRAN).
The workshop outcomes are to:
  • Introduce acoustic practitioners, and inventory and describe their ongoing and forthcoming activities.
  • Identify/review data needs identified through end-user engagement to date.
  • Identify gaps in regional acoustics activities relative to data needs.
  • Identify data management techniques for this plan.
  • Outline the process for developing the first draft of the implementation plan prior to the second workshop.
