GOMRAN Implementation Plan Workshop #1

On February 13th and 14th, 2024, UNH and NERACOOS hosted its first of 3 passive acoustic monitoring (PAM) workshops focused on the Gulf of Maine. The goal of this workshop was to create the most effective and cost-efficient network possible through shared understanding of objectives and activities across the acoustics community. Through its outcomes this workshop aimed to inform the creation of the first Implementation Plan for a Gulf of Maine Regional Acoustic Network (GOMRAN).
The workshop outcomes are to:
- Introduce acoustic practitioners, and inventory and describe their ongoing and forthcoming activities.
- Identify/review data needs identified through end-user engagement to date.
- Identify gaps in regional acoustics activities relative to data needs.
- Identify data management techniques for this plan.
- Outline the process for developing the first draft of the implementation plan prior to the second workshop.
